I was born in 1979, Kinshasa, Congo; I never really lived there.
Growing up, I lived in Ivory Coast, Liberia and the United States also seeing life in Belgium, France and Nigeria. I remember interior configurations of Sabena Airlines 747s like they were my own home. I grew up seeing these differing worlds, daydreaming of what was elsewhere and always drawing.
I started working professionally in 1998 after leaving Liberal arts college. In fall of 1999 I started attending the Savannah College of Art and Design.
In the Spring of 2000 I was noticed by DC editor Matt Idelson. I recieved a script from DC in the fall of 2001. I worked on it in between sessions of school until the summer of 2002, the story was never published the on-going series was eventually cancelled. I graduated from SCAD in 2003 and moved to San Diego where I resided for three years, experimenting with my work while freelancing.
I returned to Virgnia 2006 to work for a Design firm, and in 2007 I started working as a Designer for Todd McFarlane Productions.
My favorite artists—and probably influences as well—are Masamune Shirow, Hal Foster (Prince Valiant), Syd Mead, Burne Hogarth (Tarzan), Travis Charest, John Berkey and Jean Giraud aka Moebius.
My favorite writers— also as influences— would be Masamune Shirow, David Mack, David Weber, William Gibson. For me this work emerges out of stories first.
To the extent that a thing interests, fascinates and baffles me, my curiousity increases and attention becomes fixed. I offer that to be frank, not coy, understanding that this could be a very productive attribute or a very disruptive one. A site like this suggests something clear to a viewer so I can understand if the interpretation of me is someone that just draws pictures. After all this is the case, if the word just is respectively excluded. I learn more so than draw or paint; I learn about seeing, about my universe and myself.
I started drawing seriously because I love cars, I wanted to be a car designer. My favorite car is the Porsche 911; I love all the iterations of that car.
Even after drawing them, catching them, touching them; I'm still scared of spiders.
I speak English and French fluently.
I love basketball.
